ASA Cup Competition

Harrogate lost to Penguin on Saturday 9th June in a match played at Grantham. It was a good game with Harrogate pulling back to 3-3 from being 3-0 down. However, Penguin managed to pull ahead again, winning the game 5-3. The squad felt they did not play to their full potential but many positive ideas came out of the game and we are looking forward to a better performance in the National League.

GB Juniors go to Portugal

Congratulations to Lindsey, Fran and Rachel D, who were all selected for the GB Junior squad that travelled to Portugal from the 11th-14th April, to take part in the Felgueiras (POR) International Tournament. They competed against teams from Portugal, Germany and Canada.

Harrogate retain the Derbyshire Cup at Matlock

Matlock Tournament 31st March 2007

Team – Lindsey, Alison, Sam, Laura, Ashley, Judi, Rachel D, and Alicia Clayton (Sunderland).

Harrogate retained the Derbyshire Inter County/Club Championships Trophy which they won in its inaugural year in 2005. Due to various reasons, the trophy wasn’t played for in 2006.

The games took place in the evening at Matlock Pool with teams from South Derbyshire and Sheffield B. Hucknall were also due to take part, but unfortunately they withdrew at the last minute. South Derbyshire hastily put together a Youth Boys side (although some of the participants must have good memories to remember their youth!!!!!!!), to make up the numbers. But as this is a ladies competition, the teams played against the men as friendlies. All games were 2 x 7 minutes halves.

The first game against Sheffield looked like it would be fairly tough as Sheffield fielded 3 ‘A’ team players. After an early 1-0 lead, Harrogate were soon 2-1 down. The girls then went up a gear to record a safe 8-4 victory.

Sheffield then played South Derbyshire and were coasting 4-0, but South Derbyshire fought back to make a fine 4-4 draw.

Harrogate were never troubled in the game against South Derbyshire, winning comfortably 8-1.

In essence a good fun evening, with a touch of competitiveness when needed. Well done girls, another great team performance.
